We got on the road a little after 9am for about a four hour drive. It was pretty smooth sailing most of the way. We hit some construction when we were just 50 miles from our destination. Traffic crawled for about five miles - it was the longest five miles I've ever ridden, I think! :)
However, we arrived at Betty's RV Park a little after 2pm, having stopped for lunch just past Baton Rouge. Nothing fancy for lunch, I made Randy a couple of sandwiches and I had yogurt and rice cakes.
Betty of Betty's RV is everything we've been told to expect! She is so friendly and welcoming. This park is just 15 sites and basically sits in her yard! The sites are very close together and there is no "atmosphere" to the park. The attraction is Betty, herself. She draws the people here. This is our site:
Every day at 4:30 it's Happy Hour - and everyone comes! We sat around a table today; a couple people brought goodies to eat and we chatted. The great thing about RVers is there are no strangers. We have such a wonderful common bond in our love for travel that there is always something to talk about. We even got invited to join 10 others on a swamp tour on Friday! That should be fun.
Now it's down time - went to bed late last night and were up pretty early this morning. Randy's already yawning. :) Looking forward to exploring the area tomorrow. Until then . . .
