ZooAmerica is a perfect zoo for little ones - you can walk through it in an hour! And it's all about the animals found in North America, primarily the United States. It's well laid out and an easy walk. I didn't take a lot of pictures because, really, how many animal pictures does one need? But, here are a few:
Roadrunner - such cool little birds
It was only 11:20 when we were finished with the zoo, so we headed over to Hershey's Chocolate World for its tour. This is a free tour that takes you through the process of making chocolate. When I was a kid, the tour was in the actual chocolate factory and you saw the employees working the assembly lines and such. Now, it's a simulated tour, but it still gives you the feeling of the real thing. And you still get a piece of Hershey's candy at the end of the tour!Welcome to Chocolate World
After Chocolate World, we found some picnic tables in the Outlet Shopping Center next to Hershey Park and had our lunch. We had gotten really lucky with the weather - thunderstorms were forecasted, but never appeared. Instead we had a great breeze and partly sunny skies. Perfect for being outside all day.On the way home, we were all ready for a nap; well, all of us but Reagan, of course! She's NEVER ready for a nap!
Gotta amuse ourselves somehow on the ride home
We left Lins & Reagan at their house and we headed for the RV. Randy & I both relaxed for awhile, but neither of us slept. We were gearing up for Lins & Reagan to come over for dinner and s'mores.Dinner was hotdogs on the grill, salad, and a Mexican dip Lins made. That dip was so good - it was almost enough for a meal on its own. I gotta get that recipe. :) And grilled hotdogs are on my top ten list of favorites.
After dinner, it was time to make the s'mores. We were going to have a campfire, but Randy thought we could roast the marshmallows over the hot grill. NOT!! The coals were not hot enough and, with no fire, there was no melting! Reagan, Lins & I were not happy.
Then Randy said we should do them over the stove burners since we have a gas stove - Lindsay called it a "ghetto campfire." :) As weird as it sounds, it did work. Next time, we'll have a real campfire, Lins, I promise!
We had such a fun day. Tomorrow it's back to chores - Curves and laundry. Oh, well. Every day can't be a s'mores day!
Until the next time . . .
They closed our Hershey plant in Smiths Falls, Ontario last year. We really miss it! No more cheap Reese's pieces!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun!!! And yeah, I gotta agree with Linds about the "campfire" but Randy is very resourceful!
ReplyDeleteI think you girls could use one more pair of sunglasses!
