And So It Begins . . .

Well, we didn't wake up to snow, but boy did it rain! I almost wished it was snow, well not really, but this rain has been vicious this year. It rained for most of the day, but we did get a little hint of spring this morning when this little guy came to visit our bird feeder. Isn't he a beauty?

Once again, we spent the day just hanging out at home, watching TV, playing on the computer, and cross stitching. I know it sounds like we're boring, but we love our life!

Tonight our park's Mardi Gras events began. Thankfully, the rain stopped in time for us to walk over to the clubhouse for dinner and entertainment. Dinner was scheduled for 5:45pm, so we figured we'd go over about 5:15 so we could get seats with friends. Well, we walked in the door and saw this!

We were shocked! Typically folks show up early for meals, but usually a half hour before start time is plenty of time to get seated. These folks must have gotten there at least 45 minutes early! Fortunately, Mike & Gerri thought of us and saved us seats at their table. Not sure what we would have done otherwise. Thanks, guys!

We had a blast!! Dinner was great, as usual. Larry, the cook, always does a fabulous job feeding us. We're grateful for him and his crew.

After dinner, the entertainment began. I had a small part in kicking it off by sharing the history of the King cake and the colors of Mardi Gras. You know I just had to get in front of that microphone! :)

Then, it was time for our King & Queen to make their appearance. Here they come!

From there it was just comedic skits, singing sensations, the Vintage Vagabonds, and dancing. We even had a dance line going to "When the Saints Go Marching In" with our King & Queen in the lead!

Here are some of my favorite people:

Gerri & Mike
Judy & Darrell
Pat & Dick
And not a bad picture of us!
I think we're going to have some fun as the Mardi Gras festivities continue!

I'll leave you with a picture that perfectly says how I feel about this weather . . .

Until the next time . . .

  1. Every time I see a picture of the two of you at an event I think that you look like someone's kids come to visit. You look fantastic! And, so young :-)
