We had a slightly different jam session at Pickers today. One of our members, Linda, wanted to celebrate her husband, Marvin's, birthday with a surprise potluck lunch. She had emailed all of us a couple of weeks ago and asked us to bring a dish to share in honor of Marvin. Of course, we thought it was a great idea!
About 9:15 most of the members were there and we began playing as usual. When Marvin and Linda arrived, we all shouted "Surprise!" and sang a loud and vigorous "Happy Birthday" to Marvin. He was caught totally unaware.
It was such a treat to honor him in this way as Marvin is a fantastic man - always upbeat and ready with a hug. He and Linda have a wonderful relationship; they are still so much in love after many happy years of marriage. Their kids were with us today as well.
After we'd jammed for a couple of hours, it was time to chow down. As is usually the case with potlucks, there was a lot of great food and even better fellowship.
This is a wonderful group of people to be associated with. I am so grateful for them!
Randy's out at Pops rehearsal this evening. He's got a concert next Tuesday. I'm sure it will be great.
Until the next time . . .
