We actually got on the road about 10:15 this morning. The target leave time was between 9 and 10am, so I guess it was close enough. I need to remember to tell Randy a half hour earlier than I really want to leave 'cause that always works better! :)
As we were readying the rig for leaving, we had several folks stop by to say good-bye. Gosh, it's hard to do that when you truly enjoy the people you're with! But, we felt so loved by the time we pulled out! Thank you, Larry & Cindy, J & Heidi, Ron & Connie, and Dick & Pat! We care so much for each one of you. And Heidi - a special thank you for the wonderful prayer for our safety.
Once we did get on the road, all went smoothly. It was an easy drive along I-10.
Good-bye Alabama! See you in November!
Crossing Lake Ponchatrain
When we got into Louisiana, we did see lots of damage that I believe is probably from the most recent hurricane this past fall. Can't imagine living through all that. We stopped a couple of times for breaks and lunch, so we arrived at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA about 2:30 or so. This is a great park - asphalt pads, 50 amp electric, and very clean. It's definitely on the return list!
Our weather isn't forecasted to be very good tomorrow - supposed to rain. So, we're going to get grocery shopping done in the morning and hopefully the weather will clear in the afternoon. Then, we'll go driving around to get our bearings. We've got a tour planned for Tuesday afternoon and we're looking forward to that.
Keep checking back! I hope to have lots of stories! Until the next time . . .
