A Little Exploring

We had a pretty relaxing day today. It was a nice change from the pace we'd set this past week. We got up and had a leisurely start to the day, having coffee and watching GMA. The Curves here doesn't open until 8:30 on Mondays & Wednesdays and 9am on Tuesdays, so I didn't have to rush out the door this morning. :)

Randy went with me to Curves, well, he
didn't go with me to Curves, he drove me and sat outside while I went to Curves. He decided yesterday to do that so we could go out to breakfast afterward (that IS what you're supposed to do after you exercise, isn't it???) and then we'd take a drive to explore the area.

So, that's what we did!

Our drive to us south through the town of Aransas Pass, a ferry ride across Corpus Christi Bay, through Port Aransas to Mustang Island State Park. I was looking forward to Mustang Island because I wanted to walk along some trails and see the wildlife. Well, I was disappointed. Mustang Island State Park is really just a beach with camping. There are no paths to walk, no birds to see. We could have walked along the beach, but I can do that in Maryland! Plus, the wind was pretty fierce so walking on the beach probably wouldn't have been much fun. So, we turned around and drove back to the campground.

However, I did enjoy the ferry ride! Again, there was no fee for the ferry and this time, we went across in the truck. The wind was blowing so strongly that we were bobbing up and down - it was great! On the ride back, Randy got a great picture of a pelican sitting on a pylon watching us go by.

The rest of the day has been very lazy. Watching some TV, reading, catnapping in the recliner. About 6pm I got a second wind and we took a walk with Blackie down to the fishing pier in the park. This park sits on Salt Lake which comes out of Copano Bay. It's a very pretty setting and I got a couple of pictures. Hopefully, you can tell how hard the wind was blowing!

Tomorrow we're going to Goose Island State Park; I hope we have better luck there than at Mustang Island. In the afternoon, Deb & Rod are going to join us for a tour of Fulton Mansion, an historic site here in Rockport.

Hope your week is off to a good start! Until the next time . . .

  1. I think the very best thing to do after a workout is to eat a nice breakfast. I'm sure I read that online somewhere :)
