Last Day of the Rally

Again, I started the day with a session at Curves. Once back home, I got a cup of coffee in me, took my shower and headed over to the hospitality room so I could help at the info table for a couple of hours.

Randy & I attended just one seminar today and that was lead by Nick Russell on the topic of Frugal RVing. Most of Nick's talk centered on common sense things such as driving slower to conserve fuel, using discount camping clubs, staying overnight in local establishments that allow it, and so on. We do most of these already, so it was nice to have affirmation that we are doing what we can to be as frugal as possible.

After the seminar we hurried back to our rig to get it ready to go to the dump station. Since we are having the rig weighed tomorrow, we wanted to dump the tanks so we could get an accurate weight. In order to dump, we have to do most everything we do in order to travel: bring slides in, anchor cupboards, store loose objects, and so on. A pain, but necessary. After I did my inside chores, I headed back over to the hospitality room to help out some more and Randy headed to the dump station. Doesn't he get all the fun jobs! :)

This evening we went out to dinner with Darrell & Judy to a local diner. It was an inexpensive buffet; food was good, company even better. We'll be saying good-bye to Darrell & Judy as they are going to Nashville to workamp for a couple of months before coming to Alabama. It's been good spending time with them this week.

The rally ended this evening with more door prizes and two grand prizes. And the Guilers walk away with . . . nothing. Oh well, the anticipation of possibly winning is always fun. The two grand prizes were quite nice; a gift certificate to the next Gypsy Journal Rally (worth $99!!) and a very nice portable refrigerator/cooler that runs on propane, battery, or electric. Very cool prizes.

Oh, wait a minute - the Guilers DID walk away with a prize. At least, I did. But, I'll share it with Randy 'cause that's the kind of girl I am. Nick & Terry, our hosts, called everyone who had volunteered up to the front of the room. After thanking us and talking nice about us to the crowd, they gave each of us a $25 gift certificate to any Gypsy Journal product or event. Isn't that nice? So, we can use it toward next year's rally. Not a bad gift at all. :)

Tomorrow we leave here and travel to northern Kentucky to Big Bone Lick State Park. We'll be visiting with Ray & Judy, friends we first met in Florida 3.5 years ago. Gosh, it's hard to believe it's been that long! We last saw Ray & Judy in April when we spent a day with them while we were at the Monaco service facility in Florida and they were "snowbirding" just south of Tampa. But, this will be the first time we'll spend significant time with them in 2 years. Really looking forward to it.

Hope you've had a good week. Take care. Until the next time . . .
