Books & Food - What More Could You Ask For!

This morning was downright chilly!! It was 52 degrees outside, I couldn't believe it. It IS August, isn't it? But, hey, I am not complaining, I love cool mornings; especially when it warms up to the high 70s, low 80s. And, since I woke up with a cold (Reagan shared), I was glad that I could at least enjoy the weather. :)

Randy & I got on the road early this morning 'cause we had to go to Lindsay's first thing. Randy was going to stay at the house while Reagan slept so Lins could go to Curves with me. (Jason's still out of town.) So, we got our exercise for the day.

Once we were back at Lindsay's, Reagan got up and it was time to shower and get ready for the day. We were going to storytime at Borders' Bookstore! And, I was finally going to use the gift cards I got for my birthday.

I love bookstores. The only thing that ranks above a bookstore, when we're talking books, that is, are libraries. I can spend days in either one. Libraries rank higher because of the smell - there is nothing like the smell of books. I know, I know, sounds weird, but I love it. So, I was in my element wandering around Borders. It's a good thing I had gift cards and no "real" money because I could spend our entire year's budget on books. We ended up getting a couple of Christmas gifts, the new Catherine Coulter paperback (if you haven't read her FBI series, you need to), a crossword puzzle book and a HUGE coloring book for Reagan. Not bad for $45 in gift cards, huh? Unfortunately, time came to go. You just can't keep an almost 3 year in a bookstore forever. And, it was time for lunch! Another one of my favorite things! :)

In the same shopping center, there was an Isaac's Deli. Never had been to one before, but Lins had. This is the only area that we've seen these restaurants. They are kid-friendly without sacrificing good food and atmosphere, which is not an easy feat. This particular location sits on a little creek where there are lots of ducks. There is an outside dining area that is quite pleasant. of course, we sat outside and totally enjoyed Reagan's delight in feeding the ducks.

The rest of the day was spent as our afternoons usually are; watching TV, computer time, and napping. Such a life we lead! Can't beat it.

Until the next time . . .

  1. I LOVE the smell of libraries. So you're not weird.

Or at least you're not alone. (Because having me in the same company doesn't exactly help the "not weird" argument :)

  2. I love the smell of books, school supplies, copies. I'll gladly join your weird-person-party.

Thanks for the author tip. I need a new book!

  3. I could stay in the book store for hours. I love a good book. What a perfect day. And, yes, aren't we blessed with the life we lead!

    Enjoy...
