Walking Around Knoxville

We finally got ourselves out of the house!! It was soooo past time for me to get out. I like being lazy and doing nothing, but after a couple of days, I gotta get out and do something.

The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 60s. That made it even more pleasant to take a walking tour around downtown Knoxville.

Tour of Knoxville

This tour centered around the music history of Knoxville. There were a lot of music “firsts” here that I was surprised to learn. Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins, and The Everly Brothers got their starts here. Hank Williams, Sr. breathed some of his last breaths here. “Tennessee” Ernie Ford, Flatt & Scruggs, Kitty Wells and seven-year-old Dolly Parton are just a few country music stars who also made Knoxville part of their own music histories.

As we walked around town, we saw lots of beautiful autumn color lining the streets. That was nice because we haven't been able to do much “color watching.”

There are many buildings designated historic by a plaque on them with a “KH” denoting them as part of Knoxville Heritage.

We ended our walk in the Market Square which consists of several restaurants of varying styles, boutiques, and a green area. It is under some restoration which was good to see. The town is also in the midst of decorating for Christmas!

It was time for lunch so we chose Market Square Kitchen because of the specials offered. Randy had the pot roast special and I had the burrito special. Both were very tasty, good-sized portions and reasonable. It was cafeteria style, so no tip was necessary so the total was just $15. Not bad, not bad at all.

The day was very enjoyable. We always like walking tours, it's such a great way to learn about an area. There is so much more to do here but will have to wait for another time. It's always nice to want to come back somewhere. :)

Until the next time . . .

The Warm-up is on the Way!

At least that's what the weather forecast promises. Guess we'll see . . .

The weekend, as expected, has been a lazy one.

Yesterday was very chilly, with temps only getting into the mid 40s. Brrrrrrrrrrrr We stayed in and watched westerns (I love satellite TV!), napped, and I cross stitched while Randy computered. I made a late breakfast of sausage and biscuits that were very yummy. I took a short walk around the park just to stretch my legs. For dinner I made green bean casserole with ham.

Today we saw bright sunshine which warmed us up to the mid 50s. It's funny how warm that felt! Of course having the sun shining on the rig without any clouds sure helped. Again, we spent the morning watching the news (same old thing, different day) and on our computers. While I did the laundry, Randy cleaned up around the rig.

This afternoon I went up to the jam session at the clubhouse hoping to get the rust off my fingers by playing my dulcimer for a bit. It's been six months since I've touched it! I was a bit disappointed. The “jam session” really was a few folks playing music for those who gathered to listen. There were microphones set up and everything! The only resemblance to a jam session was that there was no organized playlist. I chorded along with them, but didn't know any of the songs. They were so welcoming and pleasant to me, inviting me to play songs I knew. I played a couple, but they either didn't know the song or it wasn't in a key they were used to. I stayed for a bit and enjoyed the music, but left early.

We had a yummy, tummy-satisfying dinner of homemade broccoli & cheese soup (made in the crockpot) and freshly baked bread. I am so impressed with myself!! :) This eating-at-home thing isn't so bad when you've got the ingredients to work with.

Tomorrow we're planning to take a walking tour around Knoxville. We really like self-guided walking tours 'cause we can just set our own pace, meandering along as we choose. Hopefully, I'll have some pictures to share!

Until the next time . . .

Pictures

We have nothing planned over this weekend, so I'll have nothing to share with you. I figured I would post some pictures instead. BUT . . .

While we were in Kansas I didn't take many pictures. Really, as I look back, after Kev bought his rig and truck I've taken none. Since we did no sight-seeing, there was nothing to take pictures of! But, I've had almost three months of blog posts without pictures, so I thought I'd share some Lindsay has sent me. Oh, and I did take a picture of the Arch in St. Louis as we drove by it.

Here you go. Enjoy. :)

Hunkering Down for the Cold Weather

Before I share with you our exciting day (can you hear the saracasm???), I need to say one thing:

Happy birthday, Daddy!! My dad celebrates his 82nd birthday today. I am grateful to be his daughter and to have had his wisdom to guide me over the years.

Our morning started about 5:30 this morning as we woke to rain.. Both of us were wide awake and not quite sure why. But, I cannot stand to lay in bed and try to go back to sleep. If I'm awake, I'm awake. Of course, that's easy to say when you're retired – you can always take a nap later in the day! :)

We spent a leisurely morning watching the news and catching up on our various computer blogs and magazines. About 9am we decided to go to Camping World. We've had a $100 gift card since early this year and we've not been near a Camping World to use it. But there's one here in Knoxville and Randy discovered we needed a new adjustable water regulator, so that was a good excuse to take a trip to the store.

Randy found the water regulator he wanted and we picked up a few other items and got out the door having to add only $1.92 to the gift card. Not bad. :)

By the time we got home, the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds and the weather turned a bit brighter.

We spent the afternoon as expected, napping in our recliners while watching TV. :)

The weather is expected to get very chilly over the next few days, so we're going to turn on the electric heater, put on some warm sweats, and just hunker inside 'til it warms up a bit. And it's so nice we can do that, isn't it? :)

Until the next time . . .

Set Up in Heiskell, TN

We made to Evansville, IN; pulling into the Flying J about 8:40pm. That was exactly 11 hours of traveling. Whew! Not sure what got into Randy, but he said he was feeling good, so he kept driving. I don't know that we've ever traveled that long in one day while towing. But it sure made for an easy day today!

About 5:30 this morning we were both wide awake so we figured we might as well get on the road. Even though we only had a couple hundred miles on the current tank of fuel we decided to go ahead and fill up. This way we'd be good to go for the rest of the trip.

Well. I saw a sign at the RV pumps saying “Auto Diesel $3.249.” I was a little confused because the marquee touted $2.99/gallon for cash. So, I went inside to ask. Yup! If you have a private vehicle, RV or not, at any diesel pump (even the truck bays), you pay $3.249. I said “Thanks!” and got myself back in the truck and we left without filling up. No way we were going to pay that price. That's the most expensive we've seen and it's just plain not right.

About 7:35 this morning I looked at my phone and it said 8:35! So, somewhere along the way in Indiana we moved into Eastern time.

We stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then made a fuel stop in Kentucky ($2.99/gallon at Pilot – thankyouverymuch!) and proceeded on our way to Raccoon Valley.

About the time we crossed into Tennessee, the rain came. Fortunately, it wasn't a heavy rain and Randy is very cool about driving in the rain. It rained off and on the last 50 miles to the campground. Gratefully, it stopped while we were setting up. I hate setting up in the rain. Of course, it doesn't really hurt me 'cause I'm inside!! But, being the good wife that I am, I feel bad for Randy when it's raining. :)

We pulled into Raccoon Valley Escapees Park about 2:40 this afternoon. By 4:30 we were all set up and watching TV.

The weather is not going to be very nice for the first few days we're here. It's gonna be COLD! Like 27 degrees at night!! I told Randy we should have kept going south. Oh, well. We'll be very grateful when we get to Florida because the weather will be perfect in Disney, right? Of course it will.

Settled in for the night. Until the next time . . .

Long Day of Travel, But a Good One

We got on the road about 9:40 this morning; later than I like, but we had no place to be any certain time, so no biggie.

It's now 7:00pm and we're still going! Randy is just now getting tired. What a guy! It's been an easy day of travel. Just one stop for fuel just before we got out of Missouri and paid only $2.89/gallon. That's the best we've seen.

Hoping to get to the Illinois/Indiana line and stop for the night at a truck stop. We've got about 68 miles to go to do that. Guess I'll let you know tomorrow if we made it! :)

Until the next time . . .

All Ready to Go!

First thing this morning – and I mean FIRST thing since I was up at 4:45! - I updated our finances with the first-of-the-month deposits and expenses. With that out of the way, I was ready to hit the bank and do the monthly grocery shopping.

After Randy aired up the tires on the RV (apparently this needs to be done early in the morning) to ensure they were ready for traveling tomorrow, we headed out the door a little after 9am.

The bank was the first stop. Gotta get the cash to go to the grocery. Then, it was on to Dollar Tree and WalMart. We have started going to Dollar Tree to pick up generic items. It finally sank in that, hey! everything's a dollar there! And if we don't care if it's a brand name item, why not buy it there where it's cheaper? :) Yeah, not much gets by us.

We didn't find a lot on our list at Dollar Tree, so it was on to Walmart to spend the big bucks. And spend we did. As others have noted, items are getting smaller while the costs are getting bigger. Sheesh. But, we prevailed and $325 later, we walked out the door.

On the way home Randy & I talked about doing the grocery shopping on a bi-weekly basis instead of monthly. We began to do it monthly when we started getting paid once a month. It was a good way to budget our funds in the checking account. However, we recently started getting the grocery budget in cash, so it wouldn't mess with our checking account to shop biweekly. It might not make sense on paper, after all, the grocery budget is the grocery budget whether it's in the checking account or in cash, right? But, this is the way my mind works – or doesn't. :) So, whatever works, that's what we'll do!

Anyway, we got home and proceeded with the worst chore of grocery day – putting it all away. I hate that more than I hate the shopping. And I hate shopping!!! It takes us close to an hour to get it all done, what with actual storage of items and separating meat/chicken bought in bulk. But, we are a great team and we make it go quickly.

This afternoon Randy did some of the outside chores to get us ready to leave tomorrow. I sat in my recliner inside. Now, we're both in our recliners waiting for Kevin to get home with pizza. We'll spend the evening with him before saying our good-byes tonight.

Headed southeast tomorrow!

Until the next time . . .

The End of Another Month

Man! October went by twice as fast as September was slow. It's hard to believe tomorrow is November. But, here it is.

I'm glad to say that October was a much better month, emotionally, than the last couple have been. We've seen Kevin settle into his new life and he's doing really well. Praise God. I am grateful for His provision and His grace.

As we say good-bye to the last couple of months, I want to take a moment here in the blog to say thank you once more to all of you who have supported us while we have helped Kevin get back on his feet. I know many of you have prayed even when we didn't know it; you've sent emails and posted comments on the blog; and some of you called just to say you were thinking of us.

And many of you we've never even met! That's the amazing world of RVers. We reach out to each other when needed and it doesn't matter if we've met in person. We just do it because we are bonded through this fantastic lifestyle. It is truly a gift from God.

I have learned even more about myself over these past few months, not all of it pleasant. But, I've also learned that we have some fabulous friends. And I am grateful.

So, here's to November! Safe travels; fun explorations; and meeting up with friends and family. WooHOOOOOOO!

Until the next time . . .

Looking Ahead

These last few days of October find us thinking about what's next for us, and preparing for it.

Yesterday I got in my last session at the local Curves. I've got my travel passes and have already found the closest Curves to Raccoon Valley SKP Park in Heiskell, TN. That's our next stop once we leave Kansas. We'll take two or three days to get there and plan to be there about a week or so.

I also got my mani/pedi done as well as my brows and lip waxed. Can't start traveling without being well-groomed! :)

This morning Randy & I went to Home Depot and picked up the plywood for Kevin. Now, it's up to him! We've spent the rest of the day slothlike in our recliners. :) Oh! I did do something productive – I planned the menu for November and created the grocery list. There, I feel better now.

Tomorrow we'll go to church and maybe breakfast after. Then, we'll need to start putting away stuff that has gotten out of its place while we've been sitting here. Well, really Randy will do that 'cause it's mostly outside stuff. The inside stuff pretty much stays where it travels.

Monday will be first-of-the-month errand day – banking and groceries. We had hoped to attend Kevin's reenlistment ceremony, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen on Monday. I'm pretty disappointed about that, but not much I can do. Randy & I are just happy that he's reenlisting. He's done so well in the Army and we hated to see him contemplating leaving.

Tuesday we'll take off and head east. We don't have to be anywhere until the 13th when we have reservations for Disney World. So, we'll take our time.

There you have it. Our immediate future in just a few paragraphs. :)

Until the next time . . .

Normal Everyday Life

The last couple of days have just been filled with everyday life kind of stuff.

Yesterday we ran errands with Kevin, picking up things for both his and our RV. Then, we went to Home Depot to check prices on plywood. Kevin needs to put some type of cover around the bottom of his RV to help insulate it this winter. I thought you could buy a skirt to attach to the RV, but apparently they are only available via custom ordering and that's just cost prohibitive. The guy at the RV parts store suggested using plywood; it's much less expensive and does the same thing.

So, we priced out the plywood. Now Kev needs to measure so we can go back and purchase what he needs.

That was the excitement yesterday.

Today started at 4am for me. UGH. Not sure why I was so wide awake at that time, but I was. I finally got up about 4:30. Gotta say the good thing about getting up that early is that there's no excuse for not having quiet time with God! :)

Randy finally joined me in the living room about 6:45am – sluggard! :) heehee

About 8am, I caught a short nap. Hey, don't judge me!! I had been up for four hours, so it was an acceptable time for napping. :)

Randy worked around the rig while I went to the laundramat. Didn't get to Curves, but that's on the agenda for tomorrow.

The rest of the afternoon was very lazy, as usual. We just finished dinner and are settled in the recliners for a night of TV.

Until the next time . . .

Electric Water Heater Fixed

The big deal for today was having an RV repairman come to fix the electric water heater. Randy knew what the problem was, but not how to fix it. So, we called in the local mobile RV tech, Tom. What a nice guy! He even called to say he was running a bit late, but still was here by the appointment time.

Tom was able to pinpoint the problem, got the parts and repaired the heater within a couple of hours. What took the longest was his going to a parts store to get the needed part. He even looked at our refrigerator to see why ice forms in the tray and told us what Randy needed to do to fix it. The cost was very reasonable; anytime we can get something fixed on the rig for under $200, I'm a happy camper! :)

So, if you're ever in the Fort Riley/Abilene area of Kansas and need repairs done on your rig, give Tom a call – Mobile Tech RV Services, Enterprise, KS, 785-787-5068.

I did make it to Curves today. I'm going to miss this club. The owner and manager are wonderful, caring women and they run a good club. I'll get there one more time before we leave. Then, I'll find clubs as we travel. That's why I belong to Curves – there's usually one within an easy distance of wherever we are. No excuses! :)

Until the next time . . .

A Very Productive Day

Randy was out the door first thing this morning. The truck was way past due for an oil change and there were a couple other things Randy wanted looked at, so off he went to the Ford dealership. This meant that I was all by myself for the morning.

Such an odd feeling to have the rig to myself for the day. As is the norm for most RVers, Randy & I spend most of our time together. So, to have several hours on my own, at home, is different. But, I was kinda looking forward to it. Not that I don't love being with Randy, but having time to myself every once in awhile is kinda nice. :)

And I used my time in a very productive manner. I shredded lots of paperwork; spent time on the phone trying to set up an appointment for DishNetwork to install satellite for Kevin; and completed the paperwork for Kevin's RV tags.

Yeah, I know, lots of “Kevin” work. :) But, I figure I have the time to do it, so why not?

Randy finally got home in the late afternoon and the truck is running great.

We had spinach quesadillas for dinner. Now we're settled in for the night. Hope your Monday got your week off to a good start!

Until the next time . . .

The Way Sunday Should Be

Yep, that was today. A perfect Sunday.

Randy & I went to early service at church; heard a good message , sang some uplifting songs and generally enjoyed being in God's house.

After church, we met Kevin at Cracker Barrel for a great breakfast. Like there's any other kind of breakfast at CB! We are getting as much face time with Kevin as we can since we'll be out of here in a week or so.

Since we had filled our bellies to the max, it was time to go to the grocery for a few items. We have learned (and my momma always told me) never to shop for groceries on an empty stomach. WAY too much money is spent when you do that. So, we got out of WalMart without doing too much damage to the budget.

Although, we did go over our grocery budget this month. But, we figure that's because we've been feeding Kevin all month as well. We're sure that we will fall in line easily once we are on our own again.

Once we got home, we “rested.” Isn't that what you're supposed to do on Sundays??? :) We watched the movie, “The Black Stallion,” with Mickey Rooney. It's an older movie, but I'd never seen it. It was a good one.

Tonight's dinner was leftover chicken potpie or sandwiches. And now we're settled in our recliners for the night. Not too shabby.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Until the next time . . .

Relaxed, Finally

This has been a phenomenally relaxing day. I didn't get dressed until 5pm – and then only because we had to walk the dogs, otherwise I don't think I would have bothered.

I spent the day cross stitching, watching some DVR'd programs and several episodes of MacGyver. Randy was right beside me, relaxing in his recliner.

Now, you might be thinking, “So, what was so different about today? This post sounds like many others you've written.” And you would be right, but not really. :)

The difference is inside me. I had a real epiphany today – I have been so tied up inside over these past few months, that I haven't really, really relaxed. Not inside. Yes, I have had many days where I haven't done much, but I think my insides have been reeling.

Today is the first day I have cross stitched with abandon. Yes, I've picked up my project here and there over the past few months, but nothing like today. Cross stitching is something I enjoy, but have to be in the right frame of mind to do. And when my brain is fried, I just can't.

But, today. Oh, I so enjoyed myself.

Today I find that I am looking forward to traveling. We leave a week from this coming Tuesday and I am excited about that. Finally.

Why now? Life has calmed down, considerably. I know that Kevin is in a good place – emotionally and physically. I see him settling into his new life and that it's good. I believe that he will be fine when we leave. So, we can go and enjoy.

I have also learned more about myself and my faith during these frazzled months. Some of it hasn't been pleasant and I've had to adjust my attitude. But, I've also had confirmation about some things and that has been wonderful.

Life is always a surprise. But, right now? It's calm and I'm enjoying it. Fully.

Until the next time . . .

YAY!!

The tags for Kevin's truck have arrived!! Free at last! :) No more sharing our truck. Kevin is so happy – but not any more than we are. Now all he has to do is submit the paperwork for his RV tags and he'll be set.

Have we really only been in Kansas three months???? Sure seems like longer. But, things are finally settling down and everything is falling into place. Praise God. Why do I doubt Him?

Blackie was groomed and looks good. He smells a whole lot better, tool. :) I'd post a picture, but the internet connection is just too slow.

No oil change for the truck, though. Randy got to the Ford dealer and once they realized the size of our truck, they said they couldn't handle it. I was a little annoyed because when I stopped in on Tuesday to make the appointment, I told them we had a 550. I was a little concerned, however, when the guy didn't even write it down. I asked him if we needed an appointment and he said no. He also said it wouldn't be a problem. But, in addition to not being able to handle the truck size, Randy was told the work wouldn't be finished today anyway. What??? I think the owner needs to check on his service people.

Thankfully, there is another Ford dealer in the area, just not as close. But, Randy's got an appointment for Monday and they said they can handle the 550. Let's hope so.

We went out for dinner this evening. It's just the third time we've been out to eat this month. That's huge for us – we usually eat out two or three times a week. Our budget has been revamped, so eating out is not in the schedule as often. I thought I was going to miss it more than I have. For that, I am grateful.

Nothing on the agenda for tomorrow. Maybe I'll get some more cross stitching done; I did quite a bit today. We'll see.

Until the next time . . .

Morning of Errands, Afternoon of Chillin’

Another day of truck-sharing. :) We're hoping this could be the last and Kevin's tags come in the mail tomorrow. But, if not? We'll just keep on doing what we do.

I took Kev to work this morning and went about my morning. I went to the bank, dropped prescriptions off at Walmart for refilling and went to Curves. After working out, I picked up the prescriptions, and headed over to the RV dealer where Kev bought his rig. Had to pick up a form that is needed to register his RV and get his South Dakota tags.

By the time I got home, it was lunch time and I was hungry. Randy and I had lunch and began our afternoon of chillin'. :)

Our evening began with breakfast for dinner. Randy took Kev to a buddy's for the evening and now we're back to relaxing. What a tough day this was! :)

I'm gonna have the morning to myself tomorrow. Randy's taking Blackie to the groomer and then he's taking the truck in for an oil change. I don't often have time by myself. Hmmmmmm . . . wonder what I can do??

Until the next time . . .

SOS, DD

Yeah, it's the Same Old Stuff, Different Day. :)

We continue to share a vehicle with Kevin while awaiting the arrival of tags for this truck. They've been processed and should be in the mail tomorrow from South Dakota. We're hoping to be a two truck family by Saturday. Please, God, make it happen!!! :)

Yesterday I did laundry, went to Curves, and did a grocery run. Nothing exciting. The afternoon was spent as usual – in our recliners in front of the TV. I made a chicken and stuffing casserole for dinner. Kevin hung out with us for awhile before going home to bed.

Today we just stayed at the rig. Kevin had the truck with him. We read our various blogs, articles, and such on the computers, watched some DVR'd programs and caught a short nap. We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

So that wraps up the last couple of days for us. We are enjoying great weather – cool nights with lows in the 40s and perfect days with temps in the mid 70s and sunshine. Just love it.

Until the next time . . .

What’s Around the Corner?

Unfortunately, every once in awhile we get a jolt of reality – and it hurts. Randy & I have learned again and again that we really have no control over much of what happens in our lives. That's why we are grateful to belong to a God Who is in control.

Sometimes, make that OFTEN, we do not understand why things happen. And we aren't happy about it. But we take comfort in knowing that God has the big picture and we just see small parts of that picture. We hold on tightly to our faith and trust our God for the results. We have lived much of this these past three months.

It is with those thoughts that many of us in the RVing world mourn the loss of Bruce & Margie. I didn't follow their blog so I didn't have the pleasure of “knowing” them, but from what I've read on other blogs, it seems I missed out. But, you don't have to know people to mourn their loss. Such a tragedy. Randy & I join the rest of you in praying for their family to be comforted by their memories of Bruce & Margie.

As many others have written, enjoy today because we do not know what's around the corner. But, if it's something fun – embrace it and live to the fullest. If it's painful, embrace that, too, because by conquering it, you will be stronger. And maybe, you'll know yourself just a bit better, too.

Until the next time . . .

Confined to the Campground

Yep, we've been “grounded.” :) At the last minute, Kevin was asked to stand in at the wedding of one of the guys in his unit. Apparently, the young man who was supposed to do it was sent to a mandatory training so he wouldn't be in town. The down side of this is that the wedding is just outside of Kansas City, more than two hours away from us AND Kevin needed our truck to get there.

Thus, our being “confined to quarters.” :) Of course, it's not like we had big plans for the weekend.

So, don't expect any exciting posts for the next couple of days. We'll be hanging out at the rig, enjoying the peace and quiet and the lovely weather. Now, that doesn't sound all the bad, does it?

Until the next time . . .

More of the Same

I know I'm not posting daily, but there just isn't much to share. When we leave Kansas on November 1. I'm sure I'll be back to everyday posting as we'll be traveling and playing much more. :) So until then, bear with me, okay?

We've been tending to the mundane, as is necessary even in this wonderful lifestyle. Yesterday, I got to Curves in the morning, after dropping Kev off at work. Then, I spent the next two hours at the laundramat. While I was doing that, Randy was home cleaning.

When I got home, he discovered a leak again. Thankfully, he was able to find it and determine he just needed to do some tightening of connections. Thank God! We do need to have our electric water heater repaired, though. It's always something!

Today was spent at home. I worked on completing forms to register Kevin's truck in South Dakota. Yes, I know he should be doing it, but while he's at work, it's easier for me to get the forms completed for his signature. He signed them when he was home for lunch and I took them to the post office for mailing. Hopefully, he'll have his tags by the middle of next week and there'll be no more need to share our truck. That will be very nice! :)

We've been enjoying lovely weather, sunshine and high 70s. The nights are getting cooler, though. But, that's how we like it.

Hope you all are enjoying life wherever you find yourselves. Until the next time . . .

A Few VERY Laid Back Days

I haven't posted a blog entry since Wednesday! Very unusual for me, but I wanted to spare y'all the boringness of repetitive entries. Repetitive? Yep! They would have all said pretty much the same thing - “hanging out at the rig, enjoying the beautiful weather.” 'Cause that's what we did, for the most part.

We also watched Kevin's puppies while he traveled to South Dakota to replace his lost driver's license. Those dogs are something else – walking them is like controlling runaway horses. They love being outside and they are very determined to get where they are going. And. They. Are. Strong. Very strong.

Today we got ourselves out to the early service at church. Then, we went to IHOP for a second attempt at me getting pumpkin pancakes. Success! They are serving them through the month of October, and possibly beyond. So, we had a very filling breakfast. Randy got the all-you-can-eat pancakes combo. How he can eat all that food is amazing to me. He ate five pancakes, five link sausages, two eggs and a side of hash browns. I didn't even finish my meal. AND he never gains weight!! Ugh. So annoying. :)

From breakfast we headed over to WalMart to pick up a few groceries; you know, bread, milk, lunchmeat, etc. With that chore done, we headed home.

We spent the afternoon watching TV and catching a little nap (well, I napped). Kevin finally made it home and our quiet time was over. :) Kevin fills a room like no one else.

That's about it for us. Not sure what's coming up this week, but I'll share it with you as it happens.

Until the next time . . .

Not Much Going On

There's not a lot happening these days. After the month we had last month, I am not complaining, believe me! But, for a blog writer, days of nothingness do not lend themselves to very exciting blog entries.

We are enjoying the beautiful weather we're having, though. The early mornings are crisp and the afternoons are full of sunshine. Perfect, actually.

I hope you are experiencing some type of perfection in your world.

One Step Forward

Some progress was made today in the saga that is Kevin's life. :) We got his truck back from the shop!! YAY! It's all fixed and has a warranty on the work. Hopefully, there will be no more issues with it for a very long time.

That was the big news of the day. And good news it was.

Until the next time . . .

Just Another Manic Monday

I am EXHAUSTED! I started my day at 4:30 this morning and didn't stop until about 5pm when I put dinner in the oven. Ugh. Can I have my lazy back??? Please!

I had to take Kev to work this morning at 4:45 and then pick him back up about 7:45 from PT. Then, it was back to work about 9am. From there I went to Curves, worked out, and it was on to the laundramat. I spent a couple of hours doing laundry, then headed home.

While I was playing chauffeur and doing laundry, Randy was hard at work at home. He cleaned the air conditioning filters and fans, hung my jewelry holder, washed dishes and more. I love that he enjoys piddling around the RV. :)

When I got home, it was time to walk Kevin's dogs. Since we're a one truck family, Kev's staying at work during lunch hour, so we're walking dogs. I don't mind, really. When the weather is nice, it's a good reason to get out and move. Otherwise, I can easily become a recliner potato (I don't sit on the couch.)

Just as I was relaxing and feeling a nap coming on, Kevin texted me to come get him. Figures. But, back in the truck I got and off I went. Am I a good mommy or what? I think “what” is probably the right answer!!

We had chicken and noodle casserole for dinner and it must have been good – there were no leftovers!

Now it's time for a little TV comedy. Then, sleep is going to feel really good.

Until the next time . . .

How Lazy Can We Be?

Pretty darn lazy, I'll tell you. The only constructive thing I have done this weekend is cook. I made baked ziti for dinner last night; biscuits and eggs for breakfast this morning; and broccoli & cheese soup and bread for dinner tonight. For me, that's a lot of cooking!!

Randy & I just chilled for the past two days. I spent most of yesterday out in the sunshine, in my lounge chair. It was great. A little chilly, but that's what sweaters are for! Kev brought his dogs over and he and I and the pups enjoyed the beautiful weather.

That's really it. Tomorrow we'll get back to some “real life.”

Until the next time . . .

Good-bye . . . and Hello!

Because of a sporadic internet connection, I missed saying good-bye to September yesterday! And, believe me, I am thrilled to see it gone! It was not a great month for the Guilers, that's for sure.

So, we say a cheery hello to October and pray that it will be much less crazy and much quieter than its predecessor.

Today was filled with the usual first-of-the-month errands. Unfortunately, I got stuck going to the grocery by myself today – which I abhor. But, Randy was home checking on the on again/off again leak. He was all prepared to fix it when he found there was no leak. Again. So he just tightened up all the connections and is going to watch to see if that fixes it.

That's it for now. Nothing planned for the weekend. Hope it stays that way!

Another Leak?? Maybe, Maybe Not

I had several things planned for today. Paperwork type things, but still, they needed to be done. Somehow only a couple of them got done.

First, Randy tells me we've got another leak. UGH!! Really?? REALLY???? What? One by one the clamps are going to go? I realize the rig is seven years old and things are going to start needing repair, but c'mon! Every couple of days a new leak? Anyway, at least it's something Randy can fix. It's just not a comfortable place to work in.

Then, Kevin asked me to spend some time with the dogs this morning because Zoe, the littlest one seems to be having trouble getting used to her new surroundings. Okay, I go over and play with the dogs for a bit.

Back at our rig, I try to do some of the paperwork I'd planned to do. Then, the electricity goes out. Randy's stuffed in the storage area checking on the leak, so I go out and check the power. Seems like everything's okay there, so I ask Randy to check. All of a sudden, the electricity comes back on.

Less than two minutes later, it's out again. I call the office to see if the campground is having electrical problems. Of course, the answer is nothing has been reported, but the owner will come down and check it out. In less than a minute after I hang up, the electricity comes back on. We go through this one more time – off, then on.

The owner comes down and checks out the shore power, but doesn't see anything wrong. Our surge protector said there was the voltage went too high and that's why it shut the power off. Well, good to know it works. Thankfully, after the last off/on, the power has stayed on the rest of the day. Guess it was a blip in the system. Grateful for the surge protector doing its job!

By now it's lunch time and Kevin's home for lunch. Also, Randy discovers the leak has stopped. What the heck? So, he was spared having to repair something that doesn't seem to need repairing. He's gonna keep an eye on it, though.

The rest of the day was uneventful. YAY!! Now, that's what I'm talkin' about. :)

Until the next time . . .

Movin' Pretty Good for 135 Years Old!

Today is our dog, Blackie's, birthday. He is 15 years old, which is 135 years old in dog years. We got him from the pound when he was just 8 weeks old; he was an early birthday present for Kevin's ninth birthday. Blackie has been been a great dog, perfect for traveling as he is laid back and nothing really bothers him.

DSCN8214

So, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Blackie!

More good news – Randy was able to fix the leak with no problem. Kevin helped, too, once he got home from work. These last two leaks have been connections that have gone bad. We're figuring that each one is going to go; it's just a matter of when. Guess ya gotta expect that in a seven year old rig. So, I'm not complaining. The rig has had very few problems, thank God!

Not much going on. We're looking at some good weather over the next couple of days, so I guess I'll just have to get outside and give my lounge chair some attention. :)

Until the next time . . .

Really?????

Randy & I were submerged in the minutia of life today. Me at the laundramat and Randy at the RV, cleaning. I did get to Curves first, though. :)

I gotta say I have not missed doing Kevin's laundry. How can one person add two loads of laundry to the mix? Of course, I hadn't done laundry for almost two weeks so that made for more loads as well. And yes, I know I don't have to do Kevin's laundry, but I'm kinda enjoying spoiling him a bit.

Anyway, I spent a couple of hours doing laundry while Randy was home getting rid of several weeks of dog hair. :)

For those of you who don't know Randy or haven't heard of his cleaning, I want to tell you that he is probably the only person who can take more than fours to clean a 400 square foot RV and still not be done! I got home about 1pm and he had just finished the living area. That was all! He is so dang thorough in his cleaning. I told him that I better die first 'cause if not, this poor RV will never be as clean as he gets it!

And yes, I know. I am a VERY lucky woman!! :)

Of course, the day has to end with one more “Are you kidding me????” moment. Randy found another leak. UGH!!!! He's pretty sure he knows where it is, he just has to get to it.

Yeah, the fun just never stops.

Until the next time . . .

Last Weekend of the Month

It seems like this month has crawled by; not sure why 'cause we've been busy for most of it. I guess there's been so much anticipation of things happening that the days couldn't pass quickly enough. Now, all of a sudden, we're looking at the end of the month in just a few days. Wonder what October will bring?

As crazy as most of the month was, these past few days have been filled with a lot of do-nothingness. Since Kevin has been using our truck while his is in the shop, we've been “stranded” at the RV. And up until yesterday, that was okay. But, by yesterday I had had enough of nothing. :) Now, I can be as lazy as they come (just ask my mom!), but after a few days, I gotta get out and do something.

Yesterday I got outside and sat in my lounge chair and read. The weather was just perfect.

This morning Randy & I went off to church while Kevin was going to the storage unit to begin emptying it. He picked us up after church and I saw that there was nothing in the bed of the truck! Turns out the storage unit didn't open until noon. Oh, well. What can you do with an hour or so? We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, what else! :) After that, off we went to the storage unit to fill the bed of the truck.

Then, it was on to WalMart to pick up a few items to get us through the week until we can make our first-of-the-month grocery run. Kev also needed some things.

From WalMart we headed home. Randy & Kevin unloaded the truck and then headed back to storage to pick up the rest of the stuff. They were able to get it all in that second run. Then, the fun started – finding places for everything! :) I went over for a bit to put clothes away in drawers and the closet. That boy has a LOT of Army stuff. Whew.

About a quarter to six, I decided it was time to get some dinner started. I left Kevin to continue his unpacking and went home. When it was ready, Kev came down to eat with us. We didn't have a big dinner, just a taco dip that we really love, but it was enough to fill us up. :)

Dinner's over, Kev's gone back home, and Randy & I are settled in for the night. Tomorrow promises to be busy; I'm going to take Kev to work, then hit Curves and then go to the laundramat and tackle the mountain of laundry we've amassed. Fun.

Until the next time . . .

I Remember This . . .

. . it's the quiet of only having TWO adults and ONE dog living in our RV! ;) Yes, Kevin has set up his RV here at the campground and has moved himself and the dogs into it. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have enjoyed having Kevin living with us for the past few weeks; being able to support him as he gets back on his feet. I haven't even minded the dogs being here. But, it's time for Kev to be on his own and for us to get back to our routine.

And Blackie is enjoying not being stepped on! ;)

Today and yesterday have been very laid back. Since Kevin needed our truck, we were “stranded” at home. Not one bit sad about it, either!

Until the next time . . .

Why Do We Make Plans???

It's often been said that we RVers make our plans in jell-o. Changes come most times because we find fun things to do that we hadn't planned on; other times it's because life throws a curve and we need to regroup.

Due to financial changes, we won't be able to travel this next year as planned. For those of you who have read the blog for awhile, this is going to sound familiar. We sat out during 2010 as well because of financial issues.

But, you know what? Even when we can't travel the way we'd like, this is still the best lifestyle going. In what other lifestyle do you have the flexibility to decide where to “hang your hat” that will be the most inexpensive for you? There is none. We can significantly lessen our expenses by sitting in one place which helps the bank account. You sure can't do that in a sticks & bricks.

So, we are grateful that we have this option and will take full advantage of it. Yes, we're disappointed we won't be able to meet up with friends as we'd thought. But, hopefully, there will be another time.

If you're going to be in southern Alabama any time between January and April, stop at the Escapees Rainbow Plantation – that's where you'll find us!

Oh, and thanks for your prayers and comments about my dad. His procedure went very well and the doctor believes this will greatly impact his quality of life.

Until the next time . . .

And the Hits Just Keep on Comin'

Yesterday found me back at WalMart! I have NEVER gone to WalMart this often in the six years we've been on the road. It amazes me that having just one more person in the house can make such a difference in how fast we go through groceries.

So, after a workout at Curves, I went to WalMart to pick up a few things. On the way out, Kev texted me asking me to pick him up to go to lunch. See, he's not using his truck until it gets fixed, so either he drives the truck to work or one of us takes him. Not a problem.

Kev got his lunch and I took him back to work and then I went home. About 4pm, got a text that it was time to pick him up. We ran a couple errands and came home so Kev & Randy could take the truck to the shop.

Well, wouldn't you know it? Kevin's truck wouldn't start – even with Randy using our truck to jump start it, it wouldn't turn over. Great. So, a call was made to a tow company and a few pennies (yeah, right!) later, the truck was on its way to the shop.

Today Randy finds a leak in the basement of the RV. YAY! Another something to deal with. He has valiantly tried to fix it, but nothing. Finally, he realized that the elbow connection has a hole in it. Really? How often does that happen? Anyway, at least we know what needs to be done. Just need to find the right part and get it done.

Also, my dad is in the hospital because he has been experiencing severe shortness of breath, to the point that just walking across the room is tough for him. It seems Daddy's been in atrial fibulation almost since his heart surgery back in May. Tomorrow he'll be having ablation which is some procedure that should put his heart into a good pace. We'll see.

Life has been a little exciting for us lately. Not exactly fun, but you know? There are many worse scenarios we could be facing. So, we just keep trusting God, knowing that He's got a plan.

Until the next time . . .

Disappointment

The weather was beautiful. Church service was pretty good. All was going well . . . until we got to IHOP. I'd seen that someone on Facebook had gotten pumpkin pancakes the other day. They are soooo good, so I told Randy I wanted to go to IHOP after church.

We pulled into the parking lot and got a space right away. Walked in, put our name on the list; just a 10 minute wait. So far, so good. Our name was called in under 10 minutes. YAY. Got seated and our server was there in less than five minutes. Oh, this is going well.

Ordered pumpkin pancakes. And here is where things went downhill – fast.

NO PUMPKIN PANCAKES!!

What??

I told our server that I had come specifically for them. She was so sweet and apologized. I quickly laughed and said it was not a problem, we'd just have to come back! Later on she came by the table to let us know she'd asked the manager when they'd have pumpkin pancakes and was told October 3. I told her we'd be here! :)

And then I gallantly ate my regular pancakes and eggs. I didn't even complain.

Wouldn't life be great if our toughest problem was no pumpkin pancakes? But, life does sometimes hand us a little more than that, so I sure am glad my God is bigger than all of it and He provides for me. Every time.

Until the next time . . .

Some Good News

Another lazy day for us. This is really becoming a habit! We did take the dogs for a walk around the campground. But, that was about it for me. Oh! I did take a run up to the post office to pick up our mail. That was about it for me. :)

Randy & Kevin didn't do too much else, either. Kevin did run a couple of errands. Randy washed up the dishes. But, other than that . . .

The good news is that Kevin was able to rent a site here at Acorns! We saw that the folks two sites down left this morning. So, Kev stopped in the office to see if he could rent it. He could and he did. YAY! Now, he just needs to pick up his RV from the dealer. It's getting its “once over” and should be ready for pick up sometime this week.

I am just thrilled for Kevin. He's starting a whole new phase of life. He's a homeowner and is going to be living on his own. We get to be here for support for the first six weeks, too. And this campground is so very inexpensive; just $325/month including electric. You don't find that most places. That will really help Kev out during the winter months.

Looks like things are going in a good direction for Kev. He did find out the truck needs some work, but that's being handled and he'll live through it.

All in all, life is good. And we give God all the praise and thanks for His constant provision.

Until the next time . . .

Just Another Day . . .

What can I say? Today was much like yesterday – including a trip to WalMart! Kevin had some errands to do so he drove into town with me.

We dropped off prescription refills at WalMart first. I have to tell you about Diana, the pharmacy tech. She provided me with great customer service. I had one prescription that needed my doctor's okay to fill 'cause I was out of refills. Typically, my doctor's office calls in to the local WalMart in York, PA and then I have it transferred wherever we happen to be. Well, it hadn't gotten called in yet and I was ready to drop off the other refills. Diana called my doctor's office to get the prescription! I was so impressed. I thanked her profusely and when I picked up the meds, I made sure I spoke to the pharmacist to let him know. I also told one of the managers of the store.

Too often we are quick to complain when we feel we've not been treated properly. But, we are not as quick to tell someone when they provide good service. I try very hard to let folks know when I am pleased. So, I did. :)

From WalMart, Kevin dropped me off at Curves and he went off to do his errands. I got a good workout and was ready when Kev came to pick me up.

Then, it was back to Walmart to pick up the meds and some groceries. I told Kevin I'm done with WalMart for the week!! I was there two days in a row. That's plenty. Of course, when we got home, I realized I had forgotten to get toilet cleaner. Ugh. Oh, well. I'll have to pick it up another day.

The rest of the day was spent in the usual way. TV, computers, a little napping. :)

Until the next time . . .

A Little Busier Today

We woke up to dreary skies, but no rain, this morning. After a hot cup of coffee and my quiet time, I got myself out and moving. First stop, Curves. I know I've said this before, but why does it have to be SO darn hard to get back in the routine of working out? Just missing a few sessions shouldn't make it feel like you've never worked out before! Ugh. Oh, well. It'll get better, I'm sure. I'll just keep at it.

From Curves, it was on the nail salon for my monthly pampering. I just love me a mani/pedi! :) And it was long overdue, too. After that relaxing hour, I took off for WalMart. Not so relaxing.

I so hate shopping – of any kind. But, money spent on groceries seems to be a waste. You have to buy the same things over and over. This was a bread, milk, eggs, etc., run. But, I was a bit hungry so I got a few other things, too. :)

With all my running done, I headed home. My guys were hanging out at the RV, just relaxing. So, I joined them. ;) And the sun came out this afternoon; the temps were in the low 70s. Doesn't get much better than that.

Made chicken divan for dinner. And now, we're watching TV. Man, I love my life!

Laziness Personified

The only thing of note I did today was to take dogs out in the rain this morning. Really, that's it.

We woke up to another rainy day, complete with thunder and lightning. It even hailed a bit later in the morning! As the weather cleared a bit, this was what the sky looked like:

Stormy sky

Very cool.

Other than my venturing out in the rain for all of 5 minutes, the day was spent watching TV and on the computer. Randy was right there with me. He even caught a bit of a nap. Oh, I did make dinner! That counts, right? :)

Until the next time . . .

Monday & Tuesday

Didn't get a chance to post a blog entry last night 'cause just as I was about to write it, Kevin decided he wanted to go to bed. Since his “bedroom” is the living area of the RV, that means Randy & I are relegated to our bedroom. So, I just shut down the computer and figured I'd give y'all a two-fer today. :)

Yesterday was fairly busy. Randy & I ran some errands in the morning. In the afternoon, the three of us went to Kevin's house to clear out the rest of Kevin's things. Of course, it was one of the hottest days in a while to do that. It was in the mid to high 90s!! Ugh. All of us were dripping with sweat by the time we had gotten everything out of the house and into the trucks. A trip to the storage unit and then we were on the way home. Done for the day.

And that “everything” included our three darling granddogs. Yes, we are now three humans and four dogs living in a 36' RV. Makes life interesting, to say the least.

This morning Randy & I took the puppies for a walk and then I got myself out the door about 8am. I finally got back to Curves and then it was on to the laundramat. Let me tell you, I sure am missing Rainbow Plantation where I pay just 75 cents to wash and 75 cents to dry a load of laundry. My final total today? $16.00! Oh, well. Gotta have clean clothes.

Spent the afternoon in the A/C which is so nice since the temps are still in the 90s. Not much else happening. Our evening will be spent as usual – computers and TV.

Tomorrow is gonna be a completely down day. I'm not leaving the RV. Really, I'm not!

Until the next time . . .

A Nice Family Day

The one day of the week that I know what day it is – Sunday! :) After a leisurely morning, the three of us got ourselves out the door in time for the 11:00 am service at First Southern Baptist Church of Junction City. Whenever we're visiting Kevin, this is the church we attend. Friendly, pretty good worship music, and always a good message. What else can you ask for?

From church, we went to the PX 'cause Kevin needed to get a haircut. Didn't happen – seems every other soldier at Ft. Riley decided he needed a haircut, too!

So, we figured we'd get something to eat and then go back to the barber. After trying a couple of places, we ended up at Cracker Barrel. Just shouldn't gone there first, it never fails us. :)

Fully sated from a good breakfast (at 1pm!), we went back to the barber. There were MORE people in there than before!! Kevin checked the number they were on and it was 59; the number he would have to take? 91! Needless to say, we left. He's off tomorrow, so he'll get his hair cut then.:)

We came on home after that and have been relaxing in the A/C since. We all have our assigned seats: Randy & I in our recliners and Kevin stretched out on the couch. It's funny how quickly we've adapted to the three of us living in the RV.

We're gonna have to do a bit more adapting too. Tomorrow afternoon we gain three more residents. Kevin's dogs will be living with us then. This is gonna be very interesting. But, it's something that needs to be done, so we'll do it. After all, a site has to come available soon, right?

Until the next time . . .

Busy Saturday

We spent the morning packing up a bunch of stuff from Kevin's house and taking it to storage. The most frustrating thing was trying to find the title to the vehicle that Kevin traded in on the truck. We never did find it and are hoping it's in the vehicle at the dealership. There's no reason for it to be there, but if not . . . Anyway, after getting everything into the storage unit, we headed home.

This evening we went out for dinner at a bar & grill that Kevin knew about. It was okay. Now, we're home and settled in the recliners for the night. I'm thinking there's some ibuprofen in my future – I'm not used to packing & moving! :)

Thoughts and prayers go out to the folks who lost family and friends in the vicious attacks nine years ago today. I pray that our country will get back to the attitude we had on September 12, 2001 – we were all Americans, one unit. It was a good feeling.

Until the next time . . .

Starting a New Phase of Life

That would be Kevin, not us. :) Those of you who have been following our blog know that our son, Kevin, is going through a divorce; therefore he has been seeking a new direction. He decided that he wanted to buy an RV and a truck and begin full-timing. Now, his full-timing experience will be much different than ours. He is a soldier, so he is employed and won't be traveling in his RV. However, since he does not own a stix & brix, he is a full-time RVer. :)

He found the RV that fits his needs last week. It's a beauty – a 2002 35' King of the Road fifth wheel. It's in great shape and will allow Kevin to keep his three, yes THREE, dogs with him.

Kev & his 02 RV P1120403 P1120407 P1120408 P1120409 P1120413 P1120411

Yesterday the hunt for the truck came to fruition. Kevin & Randy took a four and a half hour drive to Oklahoma to check out a truck Kevin had found online. (Gosh, I've not been alone for that long in years, I think!) It was everything he wanted and he was able to negotiate the price he needed. So, he is now the proud owner of a 2007 Dodge Ram diesel dually.

Kev & his 07 Dodge truck

All he needs now is an RV site to set up on! Sites are hard to come by right now, but he's on the waiting list for the campground we're in. We're hoping that something will open up soon.

Kevin is excited about the way life is shaping up for him. Many of you have been supporting Kevin and us with your prayers, emails and calls so I wanted to share this good news with you. Please continue to pray for us as Kevin continues to adjust to his new life. We appreciate each of you and are grateful to have you in our lives

Until the next time . . .

Just Hangin’ Out

Yesterday morning we moved from Mill Creek back to Acorns, which is where we'll be until we leave this area. Was an uneventful 50 or so mile trip. Just like we like it. :)

Once we were set up, all three of us got showers and were back out the door to take an hour and a half drive south to McPherson, KS so Kevin could check out a truck he found out about online. He called ahead to be sure it was still there – it was. Unfortunately, once we got there, he found out that another buyer was interested in it as well. And the sales manager said the other buyer was first in line for it. Needless to say, Kev was not a happy man.

After a couple of hours of waiting to find out if the other buyer was going to qualify for financing, Kev was told the other buyer got the truck. It was a frustrating couple of hours because Kev was there, had the down payment and was ready to sign. The other buyer was at the dealer's other location and it felt like Kev was being jerked around. The owner apologized for the mix-up, saying it was a miscommunication that should never have happened. Ya think?

Anyway, Kevin is still in the market for a truck. But, I have to say I was very impressed with the way Kevin handled himself during the entire process yesterday. He never got ugly or lost his temper or acted like he was upset. After we left, he allowed himself to be frustrated and disappointed, venting a bit, but I couldn't blame him in the least.

Yesterday was also my first born's birthday! Lindsay is a fabulous daughter; no mom could ever ask for a more considerate, loving, daughter. I am grateful to have the privilege of being her mom.

Today has been more laid back. The three of us went to a local used Dodge dealer to see what they may have in stock. Unfortunately, there was just one truck on the lot, but it was out of Kev's price range. So, the search continues.

Tomorrow Randy is going on a road trip with Kevin to look at a truck Kev found at dealership in Oklahoma. Yeah, it's gonna be a drive, but there's nothing close by and Kev wants to check out all possibilities. I'm staying home. :)

Until the next time . . .

Oh, It Was a Three Day Weekend??

When you're retired, all you have is weekend! :) I often say the only way I know what day of the week it is, is to figure out how long ago Sunday was. That's really the only day of the week that is different for us. So, when everyone talks about a three day weekend, it's really just another day for us.

And yes. For those of you who aren't retired yet, I am rubbing it in! :)

We ended up staying at Mill Creek today because the wind was so fierce, Randy was concerned about traveling down the highway. The wind was coming from the south and we'd be traveling west so the crosswinds would have been brutal. We had no plans to be anywhere and the smartest thing to do was stay put. So, we did.

Kansas wind P1120399

As I write this, Randy just came in and said the temps have dropped dramatically. He opened the windows and the air coming in is so refreshing. After the 90* temps today, this is nice.

The only productive thing I did today was laundry. It was truly a chore today. In the hot temps, it was not fun. And there are only two washers and two dryers in the laundry room here, and I had four loads to do. So, it was back and forth several times and it was ugly. But, it's done now for awhile, so that's a good thing.

We'll break camp and move back to Acorns tomorrow. I know, I said that yesterday. But, I mean this time! Really, I do. :)

Until the next time . . .

Uh Oh. The Heat's Coming Back

Yeah, unfortunately, the respite from the heat is over and the AC is back on. Temps hit 90 today. Gotta admit, I really didn't miss that. But, very grateful for air conditioning. :)

We had a lazy morning; drinking our coffee, reading computer stuff, and watching Fox & Friends in the bedroom. Kevin is sleeping on an air mattress in the living room, so we're confined to the bedroom on the weekends when he sleeps in. :)

Once Kev was up and moving, he wanted to go back to the RV dealer to look over the King of the Road 5er once more. So, off we went.

That 5er is a beaut. Really great shape and very clean. After going over it again, Kev decided it's the one for him. So, he put a hold on it and pending financing, it's his. Very exciting. Now, he just needs to find a site for it. We're hoping something opens up at Acorns soon. Until then, he'll stay with us.

Next on the agenda? Finding a truck to tow the 5er! :)

We had a nice afternoon together. It's been kinda fun being with Kev again. But, we're praying he's on his own again soon – he needs that in order to move on with his life. God's gonna provide, I'm trusting in that.

Not much else to share. Tomorrow's moving day, again. Back to Acorns for the duration of our stay in Kansas.

Oh! Here's a picture of a “stowaway” we had the other day.

Stowaway in the bed of the truck

This little guy decided to take a ride in the truck and then hung around the site for awhile. What a hoot!

Until the next time . . .
